Formal requirements
 
 
 Applications are open to:
 
 
 1.Holders of a master's degree in Medicine or legal equivalent;
 2. Holders of a bachelor's degree in Medicine, with a school or scientific curriculum especially relevant that is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Medicine as attesting the ability to carry out this PhD program;
 3.Holders of an educational, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Medicine as attesting the ability to carry out this PhD program.
 
 
 The recognition referred to in points 2 and 3 only grants the access to this PhD Program, and it does not confer the recognition of a bachelor's or master's degree.

  Application deadlines
 
 
 To start the PhDMED in the 1st academic semester (September 2024):
 1st call of applications: from May 24th to June 3rd 2024;
 -2nd call of applications: from June 4th to July 15th 2024;
 -3rd call of applications: from September 3rd to 6th 2024.
 
 
 To start the PhDMED in the 2nd academic semester (February 2024):
 -4th call of applications: from September 3rd to 6th 2024;
 -5th call of applications: from December 2nd to 5th 2024.

  Vacancies
 
 
 For the academic year 2024/2025: 24 places are available, 4 of which will be for international students.
 
 
  Vacancies may be moved between contingents if there are not enough candidates who meet the minimum admission criteria in one of the contingents and will be distributed as follows:
 1st call of applications: 7 places (1 of which for international students);
 -2nd call of applications: 6 places (1 of which for international students);
 -3rd call of applications: 2 places (0 of which for international students);
 -4th call of applications: 1 places (1 of which for international students);
 -5th call of applications: 4 places (1 of which for international students).

  Documentation
 
 
 a)Documents proving the candidate’s degrees (duly certified copy of the qualifications certificate, with a breakdown of the curricular units taken and the respective final classification) (mandatory);
 b)Detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae (mandatory);
 c)Identification document (Citizen Card / Passport) (mandatory);
 d)Indication of the proposed supervisors (mandatory);
 e)Term of acceptance of the proposed supervisors (mandatory);
 f)Thesis theme and work plan (mandatory).

  The application is made online, at the Academic Portal of the University of Minho.

  Preliminary dismissal / exclusion of applications
 
 
 Incomplete applications or submitted out of time will be rejected outright.

  Selection criteria
 
 
 Candidates will be selected by the Course Commission taking into account the curriculum assessment and the interview.

  Selection Interview
 
 
 For the 1st call of applications: June 19th 2024;
-For the 2nd call of applications: July 25th 2024;
 -For the 3rd call of applications: September 12th 2024;
-For the 4th call of applications: October 25th 2024;
 -For the 5th call of applications: December 12th 2024.
 
 
Accepted candidates will be contacted by e-mail for an interview.

  Disclosure of the results
 
 
 For the 1st and 2nd calls of applications: July 29th 2024;
-For the 3rd call of applications: September 19th 2024;
 -For the 4th and 5th calls of applications: December 16th 2024.
 
 
The results will be published at the Academic Portal of the University of Minho.

  Registration and enrollment
 
 
 For the 1st and 2nd calls of applications: from August 5th to 12th 2024 (registration) / from September 2nd to 4th 2024 (enrollment);
 - For the 3rd call of applications: from September 18th to 20th 2024;
 -For the 4th and 5th calls of applications: from January 6th to 9th 2025.
