1) Erasmus Study Period

To study abroad with Erasmus+, you must be registered in a higher education institution and enrolled in studies leading to a recognised degree. For students in the first cycle, you need to be at least in the second year of your studies.

Your period of study abroad must be relevant for your degree-related learning and personal development needs, and be part of the study programme that you are following.

The application periods are:

1st of March - 15th of May (for students applying for the first semester and the whole year);

1st of September - 15th of October (for students applying for the second semester).

Applications will be assessed by the International Relations Services (SRI) and by the responsible Academic Coordinator. Students should wait for official acceptance by the University of Minho, which will be sent by email.

The application procedure can be found in here, but if you have any doubts, you can contact us through international.office@med.uminho.pt or inesmateus@med.uminho.pt.

2) Erasmus Placement

Erasmus+ supports traineeships (work placements, internships, etc.) abroad for students currently enrolled in higher education institutions in Programme countries at Bachelor and Master level as well as for doctoral candidates. These opportunities are also open to recent graduates.

By doing a traineeship abroad with Erasmus+, you can improve not only your communication, language and intercultural skills, but also soft skills highly valued by future employers, as well as become more entrepreneurial.

Your traineeship abroad can last from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months.

The application procedure is explained in here, and you can contact us through international.office@med.uminho.pt or inesmateus@med.uminho.pt.

3) Erasmus+ Staff Training (STT)

With Erasmus+, training opportunities are available to staff working in education, both in teaching and non-teaching capacities.

Training periods abroad can consist of job shadowing, observation periods, professional development courses or specific competence-building events.

Erasmus+ supports training both at education institutions and at relevant organisations operating outside the sector.

Opportunities to take part in professional development activities are available to staff working at all levels of education.

Please note that you have to contact your home university/establishment in order to organise the administrative process (application, preparation of the mobility programme form, etc.) and receive the Erasmus grant to visit the School of Medicine.

All information can be found in here, but if you have any questions please contact international.office@med.uminho.pt or inesmateus@med.uminho.pt.

4) Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Teaching Assignment (STA)

The Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignment (STA) programme offers teaching staff the opportunity to spend a period of teaching at a Higher Education Institution in one of the Programme countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme.

This activity offers the possibility for a teacher from a partner university in Europe to stay at our School for teaching purposes, teaching a subject integrated in the academic curriculum of the School of Medicine. For the STA to take place there should exist a bilateral agreement between the University of Minho and your university and the signature of the teaching mobility programme form. Teachers have to contact their home universities in order to organise the administrative process (preparation of the teaching mobility programme form, etc.) and receive the Erasmus grant to visit the School of Medicine.

All information can be found in here, but if you have any questions please contact international.office@med.uminho.pt or inesmateus@med.uminho.pt.
