This 7-day advanced course, to be held from May 20th to 28th 2021, will provide basic background and intensive hands-on experience in the application of computational data analysis methods to complex/multi-dimensional data. Real experimental data from ICVS will be used for all hands-on tutorials.

All methods will be implemented in MATLAB, but previous knowledge is not required. Basic training in MATLAB and algorithmic thinking will be provided during the first two days of the course (May 20th and 21st).

The second part of the course (May 24th to 28th) will focus on advanced topics for exploratory data analysis applied to real experimental data such as including: basics of supervised and unsupervised machine learning including clustering, classification, model selection and dimensionality reduction.

If you already have some background in MATLAB, you may choose to attend the course from May 24th to 28th only, in which the advanced topics will be explored.

Please consult the detailed schedule here.

For the students enrolled in the MSc and PhD programs of the School of Medicine, the course starts on  May 17th and will have 1 mandatory additional week (May 31st to June 4th 2021).

Note: This is an in-person course. All rules and guidelines from DGS and University of Minho for COVID-19 prevention will be strictly followed.
