The Master in Biomedicine (MBiomed) has a duration of two years (120 ECTS) full-time. The first year (60 ECTS) is dedicated to learning the fundamentals in several biomedical scientific areas and to developing lab and research skills, through curricular units selected from a varied offer. These curricular units are coordinated by professors at the School of Medicine with the participation of researchers from Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) and guest professors/researchers from other institutions, both national and foreign. Optional units are selected yearly from the offer of
Advanced Courses within the School of Medicine / ICVS or from other national or international institutions. Each student may design his/her own study plan, valuing and benefiting from the previous academic and professional training.
At the end of the first year, the student may present his/her proposal for a thesis project to be developed through the second year (60 ECTS) at Life and Health Sciences Research Institute and/or in partnerships with other institutions. Most of the times after completing the Master students progress their advanced training by joining PhD programs in several institutions.
The MBiomed is fully taught in English.
