Scope

The epidemiology postgraduate course will provide methodological and interdisciplinary training that will equip students to carry out cutting-edge epidemiological research. The program trains students in the tools of modern epidemiology, with heavy emphases on statistics, evidence-based practice, health economics and global health. It is organised in three modules, which can be attended separately or together. We welcome applicants with diverse health-related backgrounds.

Programme

The 8th Epidemiology course will be held from November 25th to December 19th 2024 and is divided in 3 modules. Click here to download the detailed programme.

MODULE 1: EPIDEMIOLOGY AND CLINICAL RESEARCH (EPIC)

Module one will focus on epidemiological and statistical training, which will empower students to carry out good clinical research. Training sessions will be held with formal lectures and problem-based exercises. Students will be encouraged to write a scientific manuscript to be presented at the end of the module.

MODULE 2: EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE (EBP)

The module is meant for health care practitioners and will provide a basic introduction to the principles of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP). EBP refers to the integration of clinical expertise, patient values, and the best research evidence into the decision making process for patient care. The module will feature a brief introduction to systematic reviews and meta-analysis procedures.

MODULE 3: GLOBAL HEALTH AND HEALTH SYSTEMS (GHHS)

Module three will focus on Global and Population Health, Health Systems, Health Economics, and Epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Learning and teaching will be based in formal lectures, problem-based activities and individual learning.

Module 1 - Epidemiology and Clinical Research (EPIC): 150 EUR
Module 2 - Evidence-Based Practice (EBP): 80 EUR
Module 3 - Global Health and Health Systems (GHHS): 100 EUR
Full course: 300 EUR

Payment and invoicing policy

After submit the registration form, you will receive an email with the payment details (this may take up to 72 hours). To complete the registration process, you should proceed with the payment and send the receipt to upg-cursos@med.uminho.pt within 5 days.

Your registration will be effective after confirmation of the payment. If payment is not made in due time we will have to cancel the registration.

The correct indication of customer data during the payment, including a correct fiscal number, are the sole responsibility of the customer. y result from inaccurate information provided by the customer, particularly in the issuance of tax documents which are not susceptible to cancellation after issued. If you do not indicate the tax identification number you will be considered as final consumer (non-taxable person).

Cancelation and refund policy

You may cancel your registration at any time, but you will forfeit the full amount, irrespective of the date of cancellation. We cannot refund or return the fee, unless the course suffer any changes or it is cancelled.
