Shoulder and elbow Instability represents a highly prevalent problem, particularly in young people. The increasingly participation of people in recreational and competition sports, in the last years, dramatically increased the number of people suffering with this problem and it is associated with a significant social-economic impact. This population has a particularly high-demand profile and has expectations of recovery that must be considered.

Arthroscopic approach allows a less invasive approach that decreases the surgical aggression while dealing with several concomitant lesions at the same time (e.g. shoulder instability, acromio-clavicular dislocation, osteochondral defects, rotator cuff tears). However, these techniques are very demanding and hard-work training, in cadaveric models, is needed before advance into de human patient. When the surgeon is not comfortable with the arthroscopic techniques is preferable to perform conventional surgery but keeping in mind the principles of “less-aggressive” surgery.

This course aims to provide practical insights concerning the shoulder and elbow Instability. A Hands-on practical course is offered trying to establish guidelines and learn technical tricks in this important field of Sports Medicine.
